Meet The Stars

S.T.A.R. participant

Brad

Brad graduated from Leesville High School in 2003. He has a great love for sports and plays bocce ball for Special Olympics. One of his greatest accomplishments was his role as “Showtime” in the movie Champions. His favorite past time is being with his friends and family.

Bradford

Bradford has worked at Target and Lowes Foods for over 25 years. He participates in Special Olympics
aquatics and softball, and partners with his sister in Special Olympics sailing. Bradford enjoys singing, bowling, duck hunting, fishing at the beach, and being with friends and family.

Britta

Britta was excited to join the STAR family in 2023 after being a devoted attendee at many past performances. After high school she was a student at Wake Tech Community College. She is currently employed by Gabi's PALS. Britta participates in the Wake County Special Olympics year round playing soccer, volleyball, kickball, and basketball.

Cassi

Cassi enjoys music, dancing, reading, writing, and watching movies, TV series and family videos. She participates with Special Olympics swimming and golf. She also plays tennis with the Adaptive Tennis Association of NC and baseball with the Miracle League. Cassi attends a program at Lindley College. She loves being a part of the STAR group.

Chris

Chris attended classes at Wake Tech after high school. He loves the theatre and attends many performances at DPAC and NC Theatre. He enjoys going to the library, reading books about animals, and spending time at Emerald Isle with his family during the summer.

Danny

Danny graduated from Leesville Road High School. He loves music, going out to eat, and socializing with friends and family. He also enjoys working at Community Workforce Solutions. Danny recently
celebrated his thirteenth anniversary as a kidney transplant recipient.

Izzy

Izzy is a high schooler who loves music and theater. She is thrilled to be part of STAR. Her favorite musical movie is High School Musical. When
she is not with the STAR family on the stage, we usually find her jamming to musical soundtracks, writing songs and playing the piano in her purple
bedroom.

Julian

Julian's family has been involved with STAR for many years as volunteers. In 2025 Julian became a member of the STAR cast and has been happily learning songs, dances, and lines in preparation for his very first performance. He will tell you that he loves music and singing and is having fun while making new friends.

Kate

Kate is a ham who really enjoys showing off for an audience. In addition to drama, Kate participates in Special Olympics swimming and softball. She is an active member of the Special Needs Ministry of Aversboro Road Baptist Church. She enjoys outings with Specialized Recreation Services of Raleigh. Kate enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Scott.

Keith

Keith graduated from Athens Drive High School. He works at the student center at NCSU, and on the weekends he works at 321 Coffee at the Farmer’s Market. Keith loves to watch all sports, and he plays Special Olympics golf and volleyball. Music, movies, dancing, and acting are a few of his favorite things.

Kevin

Kevin is a 2013 graduate of Millbrook High School. He participates in Special Olympics sports such as soccer, swimming, and basketball. He loves acting and wants to continue pursuing an acting career in TV and film. Kevin was recently featured in the movie Champions, starring Woody Harrelson.

Megan

Megan has been acting with the STAR troupe for the past several seasons. She works for 321 Ventures as a barista and at Wegmans grocery store. Her 2 favorites "roles" of late are as favorite aunt to Evelyn (her 2-year-old niece), and as best supporting girlfriend to her movie star boyfriend, Kevin.

Rebecca

Rebecca graduated from Wake Tech in 2024, and Leesville High School in 2014.  She is on the Special Olympics swim and golf teams. She won bronze at the National Games in 2022, and gold at the State Games in 2024. Rebecca is a huge Caniac, and loves cheering on the team. She adores traveling and spending time with family and friends at the beach.

Sara Carson

Sara Carson is a graduate of Athens Drive HS and Wake Tech’s Special Needs program. She has worked at ULTA Cosmetics for over 20 years. She participates in Special Olympics aquatics and softball, and partners with her brother in Special Olympics sailing regattas. Sara Carson loves to read, listen to music, take walks, and fish at the beach.

Sarah

Sarah graduated from Leesville High School in 2002. She has enjoyed volunteering with dogs & cats, young children, and senior citizens. Sarah enjoys outings with her friends, especially bowling, karaoke, and coffee houses. She is a past participant with Special Olympics and loves music, dancing, and movies.

Scott

Scott graduated from high School in Honolulu, HI. He works at the Atrium Food Court at NCSU. He is very active in Special Olympics and the Special Needs Ministry at Aversboro Road Baptist Church. He enjoys time with friends, bowling, video games, studying history, and watching college sports. His girlfriend, Kate, is a very special part of his life.

Shannon

Shannon graduated from Millbrook High School in 2008. While there, she performed in their production of Cinderella. She loves musical specials on PBS, movies, and eating out. Shannon is renowned for always finding the best thing on the menu anywhere she goes. She was a student at Wake Tech and is delighted to be part of STAR.

Sierra

Sierra joined the STAR family in 2023. She graduated high school at Holly Springs High in 2024. She likes attending sporting events and cheering on her teams, Go Hawks! She loves to talk and text.

Zach

Zach graduated from Athens HS in 2004. He is very involved in Special Olympics. He plays softball and Unified Flag Football through NC State Recreation Center. He is a die-hard Wolfpack Football fan. Zach works full time at Southward in Youngsville. He loves being in STAR and acting.
